The Invisible Lesbian was exhibited at Whitespace in Edinburgh in November 2024 as a continuation of my series Evoking the Invisible Lesbian Through Creative Practice, first shown in Melbourne in 2023.

In Edinburgh, the work moved beyond the gallery through a series of large-scale paste-ups placed around Leith. These public interventions extended the exhibition into the street, allowing the ideas of visibility, absence and queer memory to sit within the everyday life of the city rather than remaining contained inside the gallery space. This built on The Broadsheet Project, a paste-up work developed in Melbourne, creating a conversation between the two cities and between different moments in the project’s development.

Together, the exhibition and paste-ups consider how queer histories can echo across time and place, resurfacing in new social and political landscapes. By placing the work both inside and outside formal art spaces, the project asks how visibility is made, who is allowed to be seen, and how histories of erasure continue to repeat. In
